Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a surgery to increase the size of the breast. For some women, breast augmentation is a way to feel more confident. For others, it is part of breast reconstruction for various conditions.

Breast augmentation can be done in several ways, mainly with silicone or saline implants, depending on the patient’s needs and the surgeon’s recommendations. Another method of breast augmentation is by using an autograft, that is, by taking fat from the woman’s own body (thighs, abdomen, hips, buttocks), if there is a sufficient amount of fat in these places.

At Elite Plastic Surgery we follow a detailed pre-operative examination process during which a discussion is held with the plastic surgeon about your wishes and expectations for the outcome of the operation, followed by an assessment of the breast structure, discussion of size and type options implants (silicone or natural fat), medical examination and pre-operative examinations.

Implants

Silicone implants are very popular for breast augmentation. They are soft to touch and offer a natural effect. Silicone implants are extremely safe and pose no risk of body rejection. Elite Plastic Surgery and your plastic surgeon have selected implants from trusted manufacturers that meet all safety and quality standards.

Benefits

Natural Appearance: Silicone implants offer a natural look and feel, allowing breasts to look and feel natural.

Variety of Sizes and Shapes: There is a wide variety of silicone implants in various sizes and shapes, allowing the patient to choose the one that best suits their individual preferences and goals.

Long-term Results: Silicone implants have long-term durability, offering stable and reliable results over time.

Minimal Cell Coverage Formation: Modern silicone implants are designed to reduce cellular coverage formation, which is the body’s natural reaction to foreign objects.

Minimal Maintenance: After surgery, the maintenance of silicone implants is usually minimal, while their lifespan is long.

Implants types.

Round inserts: They have an even and round shape and provide more volume in the upper part of the bust. They are a more classic choice and offer a full, rounded look.

Anatomical implants: Anatomical implants, also known as “galenoids,” have a shape that mimics the natural shape of the breast, with more volume at the bottom. This shape offers a more natural look and more natural movement of the breast.

Each type has its advantages and it is suitable for different patients, depending on their preferences and individual needs. Your plastic surgeon will be able to advise you on the best type of implant for you, taking your preferences and needs into account. The size of the implants mainly depends on the desire of the patient himself, but also on his body type, i.e. the diameter of the chest, the distance of the nipples from the inframammary, the already existing size. In addition, there are implants that can increase and decrease in volume even after the operation.

Procedure

The surgery lasts 1-2 hours and is usually done under general anesthesia. After making an incision, the surgeon will separate your breast tissue from the muscles and connective tissue of your chest. This creates a pocket either behind or in front of the outermost muscle of the chest wall (pectoralis muscle). The surgeon will insert the implant into this pocket and center it behind your nipple. Saline implants are inserted empty and then filled with sterile saline once placed. Silicone implants are pre-filled with silicone gel. Once the implant is in place, the surgeon will close the incision – usually with stitches – and bandage it with skin adhesive and surgical tape.

Recovery

Patients return to work 7 days after the procedure and can bathe normally after 2 days, as a special dressing is placed on the incision. They can also start exercising approximately 21 days after the intervention with aerobic exercises. Absorbable sutures are used, which are not visible from the outside. Incision healing can vary from person to person and also depends on many factors, including genetic inheritance, skin quality, suturing techniques used, and attention paid to post-operative care. Therefore, it is important to follow your plastic surgeon’s instructions regarding post-operative care and recovery. The procedure does not affect at all the ability to breastfeed or the possibility for mammography and ultrasound.
